We all have that one very special friend whom we want to be part of our lives. And just like us, animals have best friends, too. They create extra special bonds no matter the differences in their fur, breed, or color – just like Milo and Cracker.
Milo is a Staffordshire-Blue Heeler mix and Cracker is a Galah. And while one is a dog and the other is a bird, this duo sees no difference with each other. They adore one another and they complete each other’s lives. So how did this odd friendship start?
Milo was out on a walk with his grandpa one day when he found Cracker on the ground. The bird was injured and motionless. Carefully, the dog grabbed him with his mouth so grandpa decided to take the bird home with them.
Charlotte, Milo and Cracker’s mom, took care of the bird. She bought him a cage and kept him there while he recovered. And all the while, Milo stayed by his side all day long.
Cracker stayed inside his cage for a short while, but once Charlotte realized his wing was better and stronger, she let him stay out. She wanted him to be free. But the bird has grown close to his new family and never left.
Milo was so fond of his new best friend that he always sat outside his cage and stare at him. Cracker, meanwhile, was curious about him. He started coming down his cage so his dog best friend could reach him.
The animals’ friendship bloomed. They were happy to be always together, and they spent hours cuddling in the dog bed. But one day, Cracker flew away and Milo was really upset when he realized he was gone.
Two weeks later, Charlotte saw a Facebook post about a Galah found two suburbs from where they live. She didn’t think she’d ever see Cracker again but surprisingly, it was him. She picked him up lovingly and brought him back home.
Milo was so happy to see his best friend again. He didn’t stop smiling for an entire day. He couldn’t believe Cracker was back. It was just the cutest thing.
