Ruby is a dog that adores being active. According to her owners, Ryan and Angela Hill, the black labrador seems to never run out of energy. She is always running and loves exploring the woods behind their Texas home.
They soon realized that her love for running would become helpful in keeping the peace and order in their community. And for her actions in one particular situation, she was given a collar with a tag that says she is an honorary police K9 member of the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.
Robbery
The story started when an alarm went off near Ryan and Angela’s house. The police immediately responded, and when they arrived, they saw two suspects running out of the house. They went to the woods and disappeared.
The cops called for backup so they can search the perimeter. One investigator found the two suspects but they once again started fleeing. This time, they separated from each other. The female suspect ran into an open field, while the male went deeper in the woods.
The trees provided a cover for the man, so the investigator chased the woman. They quickly captured her. But merely a few seconds after they apprehended the female suspect, her partner came running out of the woods at full speed. Straight to the bewildered cops.
A game of chase
Apparently, the fleeing suspect met Ruby, and the dog suddenly started chasing him. He was so scared of the large dog that he turned around and surrendered himself. He would rather get arrested than get mauled by a dog.
What the man didn’t know is that Ruby just wanted to play with him. She was doing her usual stroll in the woods and saw the man running. She wanted to play a game of chase. Without even knowing it, she helped the cops capture the robber.
When Ryan and Angela heard about what happened, they were not surprised that Ruby did what she did. They know her very well. Nevertheless, they were so proud when their beloved pet was given the award.
